The Locomotive
Morning Star 70021 is a 4-6-4 Steam locomotive built in 1953 by Dove of Nottingham, She originally ran as a Southern Railways streamliner named Winston Churchill. She ran at many railways across the country before being sold to a man in Rochford and ran at what is now Purdies Way Industrial Estate. When the owner died it was sold and stored in the Airport Museum at Southend but never ran. When the museum closed it was sold to its present owner Charles Tabor and it ran at barn dances that where held in the Red Brick Barn. In 2002 70021 had some trouble with leaky boiler tubes and the boiler was taken to J A Glaze of Wolverhampton and her frames were overhauled. She has recently passed her boiler inspection and is now in excellent condition for the season.
